From Jeff’s newest book, The Language of the Soul: Meeting God in the Longings of our Hearts, Jeff teaches that the longings we experience are places for God to meet us. Jeff walks us through several longings from the book – the longing for home, for friendship, for heaven and for an undivided life. All of us carry longings in our hearts. The invitation is to be attentive to those longings and invite the Lord of the universe to meet with us in the midst of them and to take time to cultivate spiritual practice that makes us more aware of God’s presence in our lives.

Jeff Crosby (Season 27 Guest)
Jeff Crosby is the author of The Language of the Soul: Meeting God in the Longings of our Hearts and serves as president of ECPA (Evangelical Christian Publishers Association). He was formerly the publisher at InterVarsity Press and VP of Ingram Book Company. He is an organizational leader in the world of words, and is counted among the most profound emerging voices in Christian spirituality writing today. He and his wife Cindy have two grown children and six grandchildren and live near Chicago, Illinois.

Steve Macchia

Steve is a graduate of Northwestern College (IA) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.Div. and D.Min.). His prior ministry includes serving on the pastoral staff at Grace Chapel (Lexington, MA) and as president of Vision New England. Since July 1, 2003 Steve has served as founder and president of Leadership Transformations, director of the Pierce Center for Disciple-Building, and adjunct faculty in the Doctor of Ministry department at Gordon-Conwell. He is the author of sixteen books, including The Discerning Life (Zondervan Reflective),  Baker bestseller Becoming a Healthy Church, and Crafting a Rule of Life (IVP). He lives in the Boston area with his wife Ruth and is the proud father of two grown children, Rebekah and Nathan, daughter in-love Ashley, and papa to his beloved granddaughter, Brenna Lynn and twin grandsons, Aiden Joseph and Carson Stephen. “My soul comes alive singing the great hymns of the church and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation.
