SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Leadership Transformations, Inc. (LTI) Discerns Major Leadership Transition
LTI Discerns Its Next Season of Ministry
For more than two decades, Steve Macchia, LTI’s Founder and President, and Rick Anderson, the organization’s current Executive Vice President, have worked side by side to build LTI and advance its mission. Effective January 1, 2027, Rick Anderson will assume the role of CEO and Steve Macchia will shift into a “semi-retirement” season and become LTI’s Founder and President Emeritus. Steve’s formal retirement date will be in June 2028, in conjunction with LTI’s 25th Anniversary and Steve’s 50th Anniversary of his ministry career.
Trusted Mentor | Author | Speaker | Coach
As Steve Macchia enters a new season of life and eases into retirement, he will be transitioning from active engagement in day to day ministry responsibilities to serving LTI as a trusted mentor, author, speaker, and coach. This allows him the opportunity to remain connected to the organization’s mission while stepping away from major leadership responsibilities.
“The time has come for me to release daily leadership of LTI into the capable hands of my beloved colleague Rick Anderson. God has made this discernment crystal clear and I will support Rick with my daily prayers, faithful service, and unbridled enthusiasm.”
After nearly five years of intentional research, planning, and prayerful discernment about best succession practices, the Board of Directors is delighted to share with you this significant development in LTI’s organizational structure. We believe this change will ensure missional focus and keep LTI on the growing edge of spiritual formation, discernment, and renewal for leaders and learners worldwide.
“Steve’s vision for LTI to support and sustain Christian leaders, teams and learners has transformed lives. The ministry has been incredibly blessed by God, with its ripple effect continuing to expand across the church and the world. We are very grateful that Steve will continue to provide his wisdom and counsel to Rick and the Board, ensuring a smooth transition. We are thrilled that Rick is assuming leadership, having witnessed the call he has to this role. ” – Graeme Mills, Chairman of the Board
Rick Anderson to become LTI's CEO
LTI enters its next chapter with confidence, stability, and a deep commitment to the mission that has guided our work from the beginning. Under the leadership of Rick Anderson, our new CEO, LTI will continue building upon that strong foundation while pursuing new opportunities to serve, partner, and resource the spiritual formation movement with excellence.
“This is an amazing organization with a rich legacy and a bright future ahead. The mission and vision of LTI are as relevant and critical today as the day it was founded. It’s an honor to accept the baton from Steve Macchia, a man I deeply respect and admire, and with whom I have shared ministry and friendship for 25 years. I love this organization, I love this team, and I’m excited for the shared journey ahead.”

How is LTI going to change?
We are not planning to change! We will focus our efforts on our vision and mission, and our core programs (Selah, Abide, and Emmaus) which support and fulfill our vision. We will continue to come alongside leaders and learners who want to prioritize their spiritual formation, discernment and renewal. We will continue to serve as spiritual directors, ministry advisers, and participants in other organizations’ programs. Also, we will continue to offer our professional services to churches, organizations, and entities who request our time, talent, and resources.
What was the process that arrived at this change?
For the past five years, the LTI Board and President have been working on creating the most LTI-like succession process. We scoured the landscape of other organizations that were in the midst of or had completed their process; we read articles and books on the subject of succession; we interviewed key leaders; and as a team we discussed, prayed, and discerned together. We learned a lot of valuable information and shelved parts of the process we simply didn’t feel called to do (i.e. hire an expensive search firm).
Was Rick the obvious choice?
Our discernment process began with a wider circle of staff, colleagues, and program alumni who were prayerfully considered. When Rick was led to put his name in front of the board team, it was a pleasant surprise to all of us, including Rick. The board then shifted into prayerful discernment of Rick as a stand alone candidate who had our full attention and consideration. As the process unfolded, Rick became the obvious candidate – first and foremost of God’s choosing, and then our board team.
How are you going to work together moving forward?
Rick and Steve are dear friends. Their friendship has been forged over the many years of their working relationship. They have literally traveled the world together, both throughout the USA and abroad, mostly to Eastern Europe where they have served in mission (Latvia and Moldova) for more than a dozen years. They are both committed to deepening their relationship in this new season and look forward to the reversal of roles.
Are you asking me to give what I always have or are you asking for more (new vision)?
Absolutely! Give what you have always given to LTI and consider advancing your contributions too! As you might be aware, there is often a down turn in donations during seasons of leadership transition. But, we expect that not to occur given the persons involved remaining consistent. You will hear from both Rick and Steve in the future!
Will there be changes on the board during this time of transition?
Great question! No changes forthcoming. However, each board member has given of themselves above and beyond their initial expectations. Therefore, each of them are committed to stay on the board through the transition. And, all are excited to welcome new board members when it comes time to add and/or replace board members.
Will Steve Macchia remain visibly active in the ministry of LTI?
Yes, as Founder and President Emeritus, Steve Macchia will serve as an ambassador for LTI in a variety of capacities. He will continue to write, speak, mentor and coach leaders, and remain available to the CEO and Board in advancing the legacy of LTI with his wisdom, strength, and grace.
What is the timeline for this transition?
On January 1, 2027 Rick Anderson will become LTI’s CEO and Steve Macchia will become Founder and President Emeritus. Sometime on or around June 2028, we will join in celebrating Steve’s 50 years of ministry and 25 years of LTI.
