Church Health Assessment Survey

"The CHAT church survey really stands out. I like how CHAT identifies your church's strengths, involves every member, is easy to take online, and offers highly-readable results. What a great tool to assess where you are, fill people with hope, and together discern God's will for your future."

CHAT (Church Health Assessment Tool) provides churches with an easy-to-use look at themselves that could move many congregations toward the health that Steve (and, more importantly, the Spirit) envisions."

"Without a doubt, one of the greatest needs of a large number of churches in America is to become more healthy. Leadership Transformations' new CHAT survey should be a great help to all who use it. It is a joy to recommend it to you!"

How to Write a Church Survey

How to Write a Church Survey — Why Reinvent the Wheel?

Looking for how to write a church survey? Our first response would be, don't! If all you want to do is poll the congregation on a simple issue like which service they attend or whether or not they belong to a small group, then yes, a simple in-house questionnaire can do the trick. However, if you want to take the temperature of your church body on broader issues of spiritual health, discipleship, worship, community, relationships, service, evangelism, facilities, or stewardship you'd be much better off using an established survey instrument from an objective third party. Why reinvent the wheel when there are research-based and scientifically tested survey instruments available to you? Don't let cost be the key factor. There are very reasonably priced instruments you can use. If you try to create a survey instrument yourself to save money, you'll end up regretting it later.

How to Write a Church Survey — Why Third Party Objectivity is Better

If you're wondering how to write a church survey, odds are you've got all sorts of questions about content, formatting, rating scales, etc. You're better off using an established survey instrument that's been through the academic and scientific rigors of proper survey science protocol. Besides, a third party survey may contain concepts that you would have overlooked. Objectivity is absolutely crucial in a survey process. It is extremely difficult to write your own survey without introducing your personal bias in one form or another - by what you ask, what you don't ask, your phrasing, etc. Add to the mix that a professionally written survey has been specifically crafted for neutrality and the questions have been deliberately written to ensure universal understanding by the participants. For a myriad of reasons, you're better off with an established third party survey. Follow the link below for more information.
