Reflections Along the Way
From the desk of Steve Macchia

“We do get another chance! The Season of Advent gives the church the opportunity to begin again. Once more the full story of God’s grace is awaiting our discovery. Once more we shake off the failures and victories of the past, and we get a clean page on which to write the story of our companionship with God in Christ. Once more we get to listen and respond in faithfulness to the God who comes to us so humbly, intimately, and personally in the birth of Jesus. Advent marks the beginning of the church year and lays before us the pathway of faith for the year ahead. Advent initiates once again remembering, retelling, and celebrating the whole drama of God’s revelation.” From A Guide to Prayer for All Who Seek God by Rueben Job, p. 20.
Remembering, retelling, and celebrating – these are the disciplines of a godly life and also the activities of healthy ministries. The season of Advent is a wonderful time to reflect on the many blessings that have come along to date and the anticipations that lie before us in the future. I pray that your Advent and Christmas season is especially abundant with blessings this year and throughout 2011!
Ever since LTi turned the page into our eighth year of ministry this past summer, we have been remembering, retelling and celebrating. This issue of our quarterly e-newsletter focuses on our 7th Anniversary Celebration. We had a fabulous time recounting the hand of God on our shared life and ministry in a variety of celebratory ways…a Leadership Enrichment Event with about 150 in attendance at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary focused on the theme of “Spiritual Rhythms,” a Soul Care Mini Retreat with about 250 members and friends of Grace Chapel (Lexington MA), and an Anniversary Celebration Reception with 175 friends of LTi and our special guest for the weekend, Mark Buchanan (pastor and author of The Rest of God, Spiritual Rhythms, and several other books).
What follows are photos, videos, testimonies and messages that will give you a taste of our ministry family celebration. If you were with us, these will help you remember and retell, and if you weren’t able to join us, hopefully this will help you celebrate and rejoice with us!
