Church Health Assessment Survey

"The CHAT church survey really stands out. I like how CHAT identifies your church's strengths, involves every member, is easy to take online, and offers highly-readable results. What a great tool to assess where you are, fill people with hope, and together discern God's will for your future."

Kevin Miller
Executive Vice President
Christianity Today International, IL

"Steve Macchia is at it again. His burning passion to see churches achieve maximum health has taken the next step. CHAT (Church Health Assessment Tool) provides churches with an easy-to-use look at themselves that could move many congregations toward the health that Steve (and, more importantly, the Spirit) envisions."

Larry Crabb
Founder
New Way Ministries, CO

"Without a doubt, one of the greatest needs of a large number of churches in America is to become more healthy. Leadership Transformations' new CHAT survey should be a great help to all who use it. It is a joy to recommend it to you!"

Paul Cedar
Chairman/CEO

Beyond Church Growth

Beyond Church Growth — Focusing On Church Health

Look beyond church growth and focus on church health. If being healthy is your highest priority, you will most likely experience growth. It's a natural outcome. Focus on church growth, however, and you won't necessarily be healthy. In fact, sometimes the pursuit of church growth can have an inverse effect on church health.

Take your lawn, for example. If your focus is to see rapid growth and have the greenest lawn on the block, there are plenty of fertilizers you can pick up with a high phosphorous content that will produce quick growth and green up your lawn in no time. However, this fertilizer does nothing to help your lawn develop healthy roots and therefore it is susceptible to being scorched in hot weather or shocked by a cold snap. Conversely, if the health of your lawn is the focus, your attention is fixed on optimum watering schedules, periodic aeration, weed control, fertilizers that target and develop the root system - all these things promote health and produce growing and beautiful lawn as a natural result.

Beyond Church Growth — Track Your Church Health

Looking beyond church growth to church health requires that we have a solid definition of church health and some framework by which to measure our progress. Based on extensive research with thousands of churches and individuals, we've compiled a list of ten categories that provide a holistic approach to church health. These categories deal with the gamut of issues both inside and outside the church walls. We are passionate about promoting the health and vitality of the local church and we are convinced that you must have a way to measure and track your progress. We're also convinced that, for sake of lasting change, this is a pursuit that the local church should have complete ownership in - without a consultant determining the direction. Therefore we've created a church-driven online tool to empower you and your team to monitor your own church health.
